With a majority of Franklin High School students enrolled in Environmental science courses, it is important that we have the proper equipment to accommodate the hands-on activities, real-life studies, and field investigations. Mr. Gain shares a particular grant which focused on enhancing science-related activities inside and outside of the classroom. The science department received a grant to fund the purchase of an enclosed trailer, which ultimately would be used as a “mobile classroom,” providing unique exploration opportunities. In addition, the “Just Canoe It” grant has allowed FHS students to use resources and materials to their advantage, discovering the intricacies of nature itself. Mr Gain shares “the trailer and its fleet of canoes have generated excitement, knowledge, and appreciation of our natural freshwater world for students enrolled in AP Environmental Science and Wisconsin Environmental Science courses.”
